Health Advisory: Raw Sewage Spill into Water

Beach Closure for Venice Beach and Dockweiler Beach. From Ballona Creek to 1/4 mile north and 1/4 mile south of the creek. This closure is the result of a sewage spill into Ballona Creek!

"A beach is closed anytime there is a known sewage or chemical spill impacting ocean waters. Water contact may cause someone to become ill. When a beach is closed, the Department of Public Health advises beach users to avoid all contact with ocean water in the closure area and where closure signs are posted."

Advisories were last updated at: 06/14/2007 5:09 PM

2,400 gallons of raw sewage had entered Ballona Creek! The beaches are still open for recreational use but visitors are warned to stay out of the water. Dr. Jonathan Fielding the county's public health director advised.
